Casten Named to Oversight and Investigations, Investor Protection, Entrepreneurship, and Capital Markets Subcommittees on House Financial Services Committee
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Sean Casten (IL-06) announced today that he has been selected to join the Investor Protection, Entrepreneurship, and Capital Markets Subcommittee and the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee on the House Financial Services Committee led by Chairwoman Maxine Waters. Casten is enthusiastic about working with his colleagues on the subcommittees to improve our nation's economy, reduce financial market barriers to clean energy infrastructure investment, consumer protection, and much more. Earlier this month, Casten was named to the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee.
Casten said, "As a previous owner of a business, I have firsthand experience in dealing with capital markets and running a company. I look forward to working on the subcommittees to ensure that our Nation has a strong Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and strong financial regulation that protects consumers, investors, and our economy. I will also use my expertise to expand capital for small businesses and improve transparency for consumers. I look forward to working with Chair Waters as well as Subcommittee Chairs Maloney and Green to achieve these goals."
Casten's private-sector background includes:
- Founding and serving as CEO of companies that secured over $300 million in private equity commitments and deployed over $200 million of that capital;
- As CEO created and led an $80 million company with over 200 clean energy jobs.
