Casten Named to House Financial Services Committee
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Sean Casten (IL-06) announced today that he has been selected to join the House Financial Services Committee led by Chairwoman Maxine Waters. Casten is looking forward to working with his colleagues on the Committee to improve our nation's economy and reduce financial market barriers to infrastructure investment. Casten's entrepreneurial experience includes founding and serving as CEO of two clean energy businesses, Turbosteam Corporation and Recycled Energy Development.
Casten said, "I have dedicated my career to climate change and have first-hand, practical experience with the financial barriers to raising and deploying capital for clean energy. Too often, these barriers are the inadvertent consequences of otherwise well-intentioned federal policy. I look forward to working with Chairwoman Waters and my colleagues to reduce these barriers, promote renewable energy efficiencies and grow our economy."
Chairwoman Waters said, "I am pleased to welcome Congressman Sean Casten to the Financial Services Committee. In the 116th Congress, the Committee will take on many important issues on behalf of consumers, investors and vulnerable populations, and I look forward to working with Congressman Casten to create opportunities, ensure fairness, and protect the economic well-being of hardworking Americans throughout the country."
Casten's private-sector background includes:
- Founding and serving as CEO of companies that secured over $300 million in private equity commitments and deployed over $200 million of that capital;
- As CEO created and led an $80 million company with over 200 clean energy jobs.
