STEM Scholars Program
2026 SEMESTER APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN. APPLICATIONS WILL BE OPEN THROUGH APRIL 19, 2026.
The STEM Scholars program aims to connect highly motivated students interested in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics with hands-on learning experiences throughout the 6th District.
Students selected to participate in the STEM Scholars program will have the opportunity to join Rep. Casten on visits to STEM-related businesses and facilities during the 2026 Summer session. Students will participate in discussions with STEM experts and business owners, and learn about Rep. Casten’s STEM-related work in the US House of Representatives.
The STEM Scholars Program is open to high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are interested in science, technology, engineering, and math and reside in IL-06.
The Application Process
If you would like to apply, please complete and submit the following via Google form.

Expression of Interest - Why are you interested in the STEM Scholars program and what do you hope to learn? (max. 250 words)

Essay - What is the greatest challenge facing society today, and specifically how do you see the STEM field solving that challenge? (max. 500 words)

Resume - Including a list of activities, accomplishments, and awards

Signed Parental Authorization Form - Parental consent and photo authorization; digital copy by scanning a PDF or uploading a picture
