Casten Statement on Need for Additional Funding Toward PPP, Hospitals, Frontline Workers
Downers Grove, IL – Today, U.S. Representative Sean Casten (IL-06) released the following statement on the Small Business Administration's (SBA) Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) exhausting funding for loans to American small businesses and the importance of providing critical funding to hospitals and states and localities on the frontlines.
Casten said, "As small businesses continue to feel the economic strain from the coronavirus, we need to work together to provide immediate relief and additional funding. In the midst of a global pandemic, it's no time to play politics. We must act quickly to provide additional funds to the Paycheck Protection Program, as well as our hospitals and states and localities who are the tip of spear in keeping people healthy and doing the immediate work to save us from this virus. Health care workers are putting their lives on the line to combat this deadly virus. It's time for us to come together to support them."
Earlier this week, Casten sent a letter to House Leadership urging them to include various priorities in the next stimulus relief package to help families and 6th District residents impacted by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The letter highlighted the need for PPP to provide immediate relief for our small businesses.
These recommendations are a result of conversations with Illinois business owners during the three webinars Casten has hosted with Illinois SBA District Director, Robert Steiner. Casten also launched a small business resource page on his website to provide information to small businesses and nonprofits across Illinois 6th District.
