Casten To Introduce Privileged Resolution Requiring House Vote to Release Gaetz Report
Washington, D.C. — Today, U.S. Congressman Sean Casten (IL-06) will introduce a privileged resolution forcing a vote to require the House Ethics Committee to release its report into allegations of serious misconduct by former Congressman Matt Gaetz.
“The allegations against Matt Gaetz are serious. They are credible. The House Ethics Committee has spent years conducting a thorough investigation to get to the bottom of it,” said Rep. Sean Casten. “This information must be made available for the Senate to provide its constitutionally required advice and consent.
“If the Ethics Committee chooses to withhold this information, later today I will introduce a privileged resolution to require a vote by the full House of Representatives on the release of the Gaetz report,” said Rep. Casten.
Yesterday, Rep. Casten led 97 House Democrats in a letter to the House Ethics Committee requesting the immediate release of its report into allegations of serious misconduct by former Congressman Matt Gaetz.
