Casten Joins Congressional Delegation to United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Sean Casten (IL-06) joined Speaker Nancy Pelosi at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow, Scotland on behalf of the United States House of Representatives. In Glasgow, the delegation will participate in bilateral meetings, panel discussions and other engagements with global leaders on top climate priorities.

Casten, who attended COP25 in Madrid, arrives at COP26 having spent over 20 years leading as a clean energy entrepreneur and scientist helping businesses profitably lower their carbon emissions.

"When I was in Madrid for COP25 during the Trump administration, an EU Parliamentarian pulled me aside to warn me that bad things happen when the US doesn't lead," said Congressman Casten. "Two years later, the world has watched our West burning, even bigger fires in Australia and Siberia, soot settling in the Arctic. Our allies know the stakes of this existential threat to the survival of our citizens and economies–and they know that international climate action at the scale necessary to prevent global catastrophe demands American leadership. With President Biden in the White House, science affirming majorities in Congress, and a mandate from the American people, I'm proud to join Speaker Pelosi in Glasgow to ensure that now is the time we stand up as a leader in this last chance fight to save our planet."
